Obituary of Rudolf H. Helder

Rudolf H. Helder passed away peacefully Thursday morning, August 22, 2024 at the home of his daughter in Nanuet, NY. He was 89.

Rudolf immigrated to the United States in1964 by way of Heemstede, the Netherlands. Initially settling in Bloomfield, NJ. He had lived in the Lake Parsippany section of Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ since 1974.

An engineer, Mr. Helder had worked with GEC Marconi Electronic Systems Corp in Wayne, NJ before retiring 24 years ago. Previously, he worked in the same capacity with Singer Kearfott Aviation and British Aerospace Corp.

Rudy enjoyed walking and biking around Lake Parsippany and his extensive travel with his brother Ted. His favorite past time was being with his grandchildren; attending their sporting events, school functions, partaking in "nice lunches" with his signature order - steak and coffee. Words cannot express the bond he held with his grandchildren and we are forever grateful for the time he shared with them.

In addition to his late parents Jan Theodoor and Henriette (nee Sebo) Helder; he was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Theodore Helder.

Rudolf is survived by his three adoring children, Marlitt S. Bilcik and her husband, Valentine of Nanuet, NY, Danielle Helder of Cedar Grove, NJ, and Kevin R. Helder and his wife, Jennifer of Wharton, NJ; a sister Irene Meynhardt and brother William Steendam; four cherished grandchildren, James and Julia Bilcik, and Derek and Travis Helder; and his nephews and niece, John, Carl and Fred Helder and Christina Amato, Raymond and Robert Meynhardt.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, August 28, 4:00pm to 7:00pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 6:30pm during visitation. Private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for memorial gifts to Lustgarten Foundation: Pancreatic Cancer Research or Second Chance Pet Adoption League, Oak Ridge, NJ.
