As Mom’s physical condition worsened, a remarkable thing happened. Mom’s action-filled, Faith of a Lifetime, crystallized into a state of Godly Grace that was truly Amazing to behold.
Despite being in a considerable amount of pain, Mom exuded a sense of Peace and Gratitude for all of the many Blessings her incredible life had given her.
From humble, hard-working, beginnings…to becoming one of the first-ever women to be elected Town Council President in America…all the way back in the 1970’s.
Giving of herself to her family and community, was what our Beloved Mother was all about…with one of her favorite Calls to service being her work as a Sunday School Teacher/Coordinator.
Thank You Mom & Dad, both for bringing us up in God and Jesus Christ’s Divine Love, and for providing some of the happiest and most-fulfilling days of my life.
Thanksgiving Dinners with Mom & Dad at the head of the table, smiling as all the criss-crossing joking and chatter filled the air with some of the sweetest music of all…the celebration of harmonious, good times with loved ones…the very essence of life itself in its ability to connect us all to that Eternal & Eternalizing Source of God-Is-Love.
And in these last six months, as Mom battled valiantly against that terrible disease…we began a new tradition of God-Is-Love, for the sake of her comfort.
Now every once in a great while…Hollywood produces a story which dares to explore God’s Amazing Grace, and His Emissary of Divine Healing Power & Inspiration here on Earth, Jesus Christ.
One such film is, Tender Mercies…a story about someone who has his Faith rekindled by Love, late in life…and who is truly Saved in every sense of that word.
Tender Mercies contains an exquisite hymn about the baptism of Jesus that brought Mom great comfort in her last days.
If you haven’t seen the film yet, please think of Mom when Robert Duvall sings “On the Wings of the Dove,” because it was a song Mom came to love.
Rest in Peace & Glory Mom!
You will be Forever in our hearts.

Mrs. Apelian was such a kind lady. In my childhood eyes she always seemed so exotic.
May her memory be a blessing.

t is with profound sadness that we learned of the passing away of Virginia Apelian. She with her husband Henry were godparents to our wedding and to our son Daniel’s baptismal. She was a talented, colorful and civic minded lady. For many years she acted as the Armenian community’s representative to the NJ governor's office and secured the governor’s April 24 Armenian Genocide commemoration declaration. Her last mission to Armenia was for the benefits of the women in Armenia. Her memories will remain etched in us, as long as we live. Vahe H & Marie Apelian
