Obituary of Maureen E. McQuilkin
Maureen E. McQuilkin (nee Sheehan) passed peacefully at her home on Sunday September 15th surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. She was 79 years young.
Born In Jersey City, Maureen was one of four children to bless the Sheehan family. She was a proud graduate of St. Vincent Academy, Newark and after her schooling she settled down and started a family of her own. She lived a life full of love, laughter, and impeccable style. A self-proclaimed fashionista, Maureen was known for always coordinating her outfits perfectly and accessorizing to a tee. She had a knack for fashion and style.
She had a passion for knitting and shopping and spent countless hours doing both. Above all, she cherished her family, and any time spent with them. After raising her children, she found her greatest joy in being a grandmother to her three beautiful grandchildren. When they were small, she would take them with her everywhere. As they grew, she was the driver to every sporting event and after school activity. “Grandma’s Taxi” as Maureen called it, was always at the ready! She was proud of the kids and they were the light of her life.
Maureen’s vibrant personality and fashion-forward spirit will be missed.
She leaves joyful memories to her children James McQuilkin and Joan Ackaway (James); her grandchildren Amanda McQuilkin (Sean Reilly), Daniel Ackaway (fiance Katie Altomare) and Thomas Ackaway (Nicole Cristiano). She was preceded in death by her siblings Bro.George Sheehan, SDB and Sr. Joan Marie Sheehan, OP. Her sister Winifred remains in her heart always.
