Obituary of Robert Anthony Cavanaugh

Robert Anthony Cavanaugh passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ, after a long and courageous battle with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. He was 61 years old.

Born in Teaneck, NJ on May 13, 1963, he lived briefly in Oakland, NJ, and was a longtime resident of the Towaco Section of Montville Township, NJ.

Robert worked for 35 years in several Sales and Union Leadership Roles for Pepsi Cola Bottling Group in East Hanover, NJ prior to his retirement.

Known to his family as Robert, his childhood friends as Boo, his colleagues and friends in his later years as Bobby or Bob, Robert's charismatic personality touched the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing or even speaking with him. The outpouring of condolences from family, friends, and the compassionate staff at Morristown Memorial Hospital stands as a true testament to the lasting impact he had on those around him.

Preceded in death by his dear father, John J. "Jack" Cavanaugh, Sr, Robert will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Allison Axelband; his adoring mother, Theresa M. (nee Ciallella); his three devoted siblings, Daniel J. Sr. (Bernadette), John J. Jr. and Cheryl A., his cherished nieces and nephews, his precious great-niece and nephews, his many caring aunts, uncles, and cousins, and a strong camaraderie of amazing friends, all of whom he loved dearly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha, NJ. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 18, 2024, 10:00am at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 24 Changebridge Road, Montville, NJ. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ.
