Obituary of John Gregory Spinalli

John Gregory Spinalli passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Hackensack University Medical Center, following a brief battle with lung cancer. He was 56.

Born in Passaic, New Jersey, John was raised in Clifton, New Jersey and had lived in Maine and Florida before moving to Tennessee.

John had worked as a millwright with the North Central Regional Council of Carpenters. Prior to becoming a millwright, John was a long-haul driver transporting freight cross country and loved Peterbilt trucks.
 

John especially enjoyed spending summers and winters at his family's lake home on Little Boyd Lake in Maine. An avid sportsman, he loved waterskiing on the lake, boating, fishing, snow skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating and playing ice hockey. His passion for riding dirtbikes as a kid led to a lifelong passion for motorcycles.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Luna Spinalli of Tennessee who he affectionately called "his sunshine"; his loving parents, Frank and Joan (nee Smolenack) Spinalli of Maine; a dear sister, Lisa (nee Spinalli) Colonnelli of New Jersey; two nieces, Stefani (nee Colonnelli) Franceschelli and Alexandra (nee Colonnelli) Salvano; a nephew, Nino Gianmarco Colonnelli; and his grand-nieces, Nina and Natalia Salvano.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. John will be laid to rest at the East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton, New Jersey.
