Obituary of Michael Gabco Jr.

Michael "Mike" Gabco Jr., 89, passed away suddenly, Sunday morning, December 22, 2024, in Wayne, NJ.

Mike was born in Colon, Panama to Michael and Norine Gabco while his father was serving abroad in the United States Navy. They moved to Vermont and then to New London, CT. It was in New London that Mike met his high school sweetheart, Kathy to whom he was married to for 64 years.

Mike was predeceased by his brother and two sisters. Mike was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathy Gabco; a son, Michael Gabco; and two daughters, Susan Johnson, and infant Laurie Gabco.

He is survived by his two loving daughters, Holly Reardon and her husband, John; Nancy Dean and her husband, Bob; a son-in-law, Bob Johnson; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Mike served in the United States Army in Korea.

He worked at Pfizer Pharmaceutical in Groton, CT for 35 years.

Mike was a longtime parishioner at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Waterford, CT. He enjoyed volunteering in the church kitchen for various events and served on several committees over the years. Mike loved to garden, cook, and spend time at the beach. Mike was a friend to all the neighborhood cats, some of whom he opened his home to. Over the years he enjoyed traveling with Kathy as well as going on family vacations with his children and grandchildren.

A memorial gathering in celebration of Mike's life will be scheduled in the spring. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in New London, CT.
