Obituary of Ann N. Fawcett

Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ann Natalie Fawcett (nee Sawyer), lovingly known by family as "Myna," passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ in the presence of her daughter and son-in-law. She would have celebrated her 92nd Birthday on February 5th.

A resident of Denville, she and her husband, Robert, moved to The Oaks in 2007 from Whippany, NJ where they had lived for thirty years.

Ann was born at home to Frank and Mabel Sawyer in Sherburne, NY on February 5th, 1933, during a raging blizzard. Her Dad went to get the doctor in a horse drawn sleigh, as the roads were impassable.

After graduating from Sherburne High School, and Broome Technical Institute in Binghamton, NY, she worked in the technical department at General Electric in Johnson City, NY. After her marriage, she was became a devoted mother and homemaker, and raised her three children in a home of warmth and love.

Ann loved to travel, especially on road trips. She was proud of the fact that she traveled to every one of the 50 United States! Gardening, trying out her new recipes on family and friends, and volunteering at The Oaks kept her busy during her retirement.

She leaves behind a beloved daughter, Paula Foreso and her husband, Ron of Morris Plains, NJ; a step-daughter, Carol Fawcett of Bristol, PA; five grandsons, Zachary Gurney, Jacob Gurney, Brian Konopka, Steven Payne and Taylor Payne; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Fawcett in 2019; two sons, Allan Clyde Gurney and Lynn David Gurney; a step-son, Daniel Fawcett; a grandson Nicholas Gurney; and three brothers Harold Sawyer, Willis Sawyer and Rex Sawyer.
