Obituary of Janak Jivanlal Shah
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Janak J. Shah, who left us peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the age of 66. His final moments were spent at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York, NY, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Palaj, Gujarat, India, Janak's journey led him to the United States in 1998, where he initially made his home in Lodi, NJ, before moving to Paramus, NJ in 2015. He was a man of great intellect and education, having earned his BS degree in Electronic Engineering from LD Engineering College in Ahmedabad, India, followed by his MS from DDIT College in Nadiad, India.
Janak's professional life was marked by his dedication to education. He was a respected college professor at DDIT College in Nadiad, India. After immigrating to America, he continued to enrich minds as a professor of computer networking at Berkeley College, serving at their campuses in Dover and Paramus, NJ. He also shared his knowledge and passion for Mathematics as a tutor with Kaplan, employing traditional Indian teaching techniques. He retired in 2020, leaving behind a legacy of inspired students and colleagues.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jivanlal Dahyalal and Shantaben Shah. Janak's memory is cherished and kept alive by his devoted wife of 41 years, Smitaben J. Shah; his beloved children, Hardik J. Shah of Paramus, and Avani J. Shah and her husband, Amit Patel of Alpharetta, GA; and his dear siblings, Suresh Shah of Jacksonville, NC, Parul Shah of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, Suman Shah of Elmwood Park, NJ, and Jayesh Shah of Saddle Brook, NJ, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are warmly invited to partake in the Funeral Services to be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 8:30am to 10:30am at the Rosedale Crematory Chapel, 408 Orange Road, Montclair, NJ. The cremation will immediately follow the services.
Janak J. Shah's life was a beacon of knowledge and kindness, touching the hearts and minds of many. He will be profoundly missed and eternally remembered.
